Winter in New Zealand

Winter is one of the most magical times to travel around New Zealand.  The crowds are gone, there are great deals to be had and you’ll see spectacular scenery

winter in NZthat you don’t see any other time of year.  You'll find warm accommodation at every Kiwi Holiday Park through cabins, self contained and motel units.   And when you Stay in September you receive Quad Fly Buys Points.

Getaway for a weekend or a longer trip and imagine the fresh air, spectacular views and fresh powder while skiing one of the nine commercial ski fields of the South Island or snowboard on a live volcano on Mt. Ruapehu.

Warm up at one of the many thermal hot pools in the Central North Island in Taupo or Rotorua.  Make it a spa day and try one of the therapeutic treatment options including warm thermal mud wraps and hot stone massage.  If you haven’t been to Hanmer Spring lately what are you waiting for?  Many people hike or bike the bountiful tracks by day and soak in the hot pools by night.

Winter is the perfect time to take in the cold weather wildlife.  Whale Watching and visiting the baby seals up close in Kaikoura is best in the winter.  Wildlife whale tailcomes out to play this time of year at Milford Sound and the Catilins

If something indoors is more your style, this is a great time to plan a weekend winery trip around Marlborough, Nelson or Napier.  Beat the crowd, go for a tour and enjoy one of the many delicious lunch or dinner options New Zealand wineries have to offer.  This is also a prime time to get amazing deals on wine to take home and enjoy by the fire later.

If you really have an urge to put on some shorts head off to the winterless Far North.  A tour to Cape Reinga finished off with a drive down 90 mile beach never gets old.  A hike through the giant Kauri Forest and an exploration of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds with put you back in touch with the natural beauty, history and spirit of New Zealand.

Caving in Waitomo, the West Coast or Te Anau is an amazing winter activity.  Chill out with a tour and boat ride through the glow worm caves or try something a bit more daring with black water rafting, zip-lining or repelling.

The point is, bundle up and get out and enjoy all that the season has to offer.  You will find everything you need for warm accommodation options at a Kiwi Holiday Park.
