Hokitika is a cool little town and a "must-stay" destination on the West Coast. Don’t rush! It’s common to hear “I wish we had stayed in Hokitika longer. There is so much to see and do.” Some top local picks include meeting local artists in their galleries, feeding eels and seeing live kiwi, walking the treetops, riding the West Coast Wilderness Trail, picnicking at Lake Kaniere, cruising on Lake Mahinapua and seeing the unbelievable Hokitika Gorge.
Hokitika is also a great place to base yourself to see the wider West Coast. Do scenic day trips to Punakaiki's Pancake Rocks to the north or the Franz Josef Glacier to the south. Shantytown Heritage Park is a great place to take the kids to experience living history.
We look forward to having you come stay with us.
