Motel and Hotel Accommodation

These descriptions are based on descriptions provided by Qualmark New Zealand Limited.
Qualmark is a joint venture between Tourism New Zealand and the New Zealand Automobile Association. The company was set up in 1994, specifically to operate an independent classification and grading system for the New Zealand tourism industry. Its purpose is to provide independent assessment of tourism products so that visitors can make informed choices about where to stay and what to do.

Qualmark has to date (August 2000) established grading systems for holiday parks, hotels, and motels. For information on holiday park accommodation click here.

Grading systems are being developed for backpacker accommodation, and hosted accommodation (bed & breakfast, home stays, farm stays, lodges, and others). For other information on Qualmark

Please note: a number of motel units in several Kiwi Holiday Parks are rated separately by Qualmark under the Qualmark Motels Grading System. These parks will have two listings in this Website: one listing for the motel units, and one listing for other accommodation provided at the holiday park.
