Your hosts at Levin Kiwi Holiday Park
Debbie and Repi Wright took over the lease of the park in 2012 following a restructure of the company that Repi was working for, which meant the possibility of overseas deployment. With family in the region, a move to the Horowhenua was an extremely attractive option — especially as they had started their own family only a couple of years prior. Now with three children, aged five, seven and nine, the pair love the variety of day-to-day operations, working together as a couple and the flexibility it gives them to be involved in their children’s busy lives.
Where is Levin Kiwi Holiday Park located?
The park is located in the Horowhenua, a short 1 hour 15-minute drive north from the Cook Strait ferry in Wellington, and just 40 minutes south of Palmerston North. The location is ideal for those that are travelling south from either Taupo or New Plymouth on their way to New Zealand’s capital, Wellington.
What local attractions do Debbie and Repi recommend?
If there is one activity that Debbie and Repi recommend their guests go and see during their stay, it would have to be Waitarere Beach (just a 15-minute drive away). Summer or winter, it’s just a great place to relax and enjoy according to the hard-working couple. At low tide you can also drive along the sand 5 kms to the north and 4 kms to the south. It’s the place Debbie, Repi and the children go when they get a break away from the park for a week in each of the school holidays.
You can check out some of the other local activities here and if you’re heading out for a day trip, then your hosts suggest you explore the compact and easy-to-navigate city of Wellington: including visits to Te Papa, Weta Workshop and Oriental Parade.
