Hidden Gems in Auckalnd
What to do in Auckland while staying at the Auckland Kiwi Holiday Park. Well were do I start. If you really must leave our little piece of paradise with our lovely trees and gardens, you can venture a couple of kms down the road. The Zoo and Motat which is our Museum of Transport and Technology is great fun to walk around and interact with working models of days gone by. For the children, there is the Mirror Maze, Tactile Dome and lots of exciting science and technology. Western Springs Park is lovely with its winding paths and waterways where you can feed the ducks and geese, play in the playground or just have a wonderfully relaxing walk or run around the park.
Also on the north side of town and very unique is Crystal Mountain where you will find amazing gems and crystals in their natural state, devine jewellery and while your trying to choose which piece you would like there is a miniature farm and theme park for the children, so easy to spend a few hours there.
For those of you who wish to shop till you drop we have two malls in the area. 3 kms east is Westfield St.Lukes Plaza multi level Mall with 166 shops with everything from icecreams to the latest in fashion and technology with plenty of parking. Take the other direction for 3 kms and you arrive at Lynmall, 135 ground level stores with everything you need.
Of course we have our beautiful harbour, with short boat rides to Devonport, a lovely little village great for coffee or lunch and also home to our Naval Base. A walk up Mt.Victoria gives you fantastic views of harbour city and surrounding islands.
A 35 minute ferry ride will take you down to Waiheke Island well known for its many vineyards and olive groves. Also there is Rangitoto Island which is an extinct volcanoes, a ferry trip there makes for a really great day out.
